Sixth class spent a day at Carrowmore Tombs and Sligo Abbey at the start of the year. Carrowmore is one of our most important and interesting monuments. It’s amazing to hear that these tombs are older than the famous Pyramids in Egypt.
Sligo Abbey is also a very important part of Sligo’s history. We learned how thousands of people are buried in the grounds, and that it may have been the inspiration behind Conan Doyle’s Dracula.
