6 th Class Graduation 2024

21st Jun 2024

We bid farewell to our 6th class at two special events this week. On Wednesday the 19th of June at 7pm, Fr Tom celebrated a graduation mass in the school hall. The mass was in thanksgiving for the 8 great years the children enjoyed in our school.

Following the mass, the children, their parents and their families enjoyed a Photostory Slideshow of photos from over the years. There were plenty of giggles as the children viewed the changes over the years, especially their hairstyles! Mr Kelly put together a wonderful slideshow with memories from their very busy 6th class schedule. Thank you to all those who helped to serve the refreshments on the night -it was lovely for everyone to get the chance to chat and meet up over a cuppa.

On Thursday the 20th of  June at 11.15 am. we had our Leavers Assembly. The whole school community came together in the hall to wish our fantastic 6th class pupils the best of luck in the future.

It began with a prayer service led by Fr Tom. The children were totally involved in the ceremony as it reflected their time in Rathcormac NS. As our distinguished guests on the day, our 6th class pupils were then treated to a variety show with each class in the school performing a party piece in their honour.

Our Junior Infants performed "I'm on my way" complete with actions and they had everyone tapping along. Next up Senior Infants did a great job reciting a poem called At the end of the year. First Class accompanied by Ms Whitehead on the guitar treated us to a wonderful performance of "The best day of my life". We had a dance group from 4th class up on the stage next and these girls can certainly move to the beat of the music.

Second class sang their hearts out as they performed "Count On Me" with music provided by Ms Whitehead. Third Class impressed all present with their poem "We wish you well"- they even composed some additional verses. Mr. Brennan's class was on the stage next and they performed "Paddy Panda" much to the delight of our 6th class pupils.

It was the final performance for two of our 6th class girls who have entertained us for many years at Christmas and at assemblies. Clare and Heather Anne sang "Safe and Sound" beautifully. Thank you girls for all your musical contributions over the years.

Mr Colsh's class also accompanied by Ms Whitehead was next to impress with "Send Me on My Way". 5th class was very "Happy" to sing and clap along with their energetic performance of this Summer favourite.

For their final assembly, 6th class sang Sky Full of Stars and received a huge ovation from the large crowd present in the hall. Mr Kelly then presented the children with their graduation certificates.

Mrs Connell in her speech congratulated the children on all their achievements over the years and reminded them of their journey through Rathcormac NS. Mrs Connell thanked the parents for their support over the years and acknowledged the great home/school partnership enjoyed in Rathcormac NS.  She wished the graduates every success in their future and stated that they would be missed as they had each contributed so much to the school over the years.

The whole school then sang the Leavers Song to 6th class before they left the school for one final time clapped and cheered on by all classes.

Congratulations to the class of 2024.
