Biodiversity week/visit to orchard/tree planting.
4th class have had a very exciting week learning about biodiversity and taking part in webinars organised through Green Schools and An Taisce.
Our webinars focused on pondlife, forests and on the barn owl. We also learned about the white tailed eagle We submitted many questions and received excellent feedback. The presenters commented on the quality of our questions which shows the level of knowledge, engagement and interest the pupils have in this area.
On Friday we visited Fr.Tom's orchard. We simply could not have picked a better day! The weather was glorious and the pupils enjoyed the peace and serenity. We saw several fruiting plants such as gooseberries, blackcurrant as well as many apple trees. We will check in on their growth over the next month.
We planted a few more trees and we had leaf detectives working to discover what trees we were planting. Can you guess the tree by its leaf?
