Carol Service 2024

17th Dec 2024

We were delighted to welcome a huge crowd of parents, grandparents and families to our hall today at  1 o'clock for the first of our Carol Services on Tuesday the 17th of December 2024.

A group of our talented musicians under Moninne’s expert guidance opened the service with O come all ye Faithful. Our drummer  lead the procession of angels ,shepherds and Mary and Joseph to set the scene for our Christmas celebration.

Each class performed two carols and the crowd enjoyed the wide variety of modern and traditional carols. Our infant classes entertained us with Jog along little donkey, Sweet Baby Jesus and Away in a manger.

First Class sang Joy to the World and Calyspso Carol with great enthusiasm . Second class loved performing It was on a Starry Night and Because it’s Christmas and they sang both with great joy.

Third  class performed our lovely opening carol The Drummer Boy together with the Zither Carol. Fourth class sang Infant Holy really gently and lead the fantastic closing song Mary’s Boy Child.
We loved to listen to  the 5th class rendition of Ding Dong Merrily On High and Sing Hallelujah. It was a real treat to hear 5th and 6th class singing Silent Night and Go tell it to the Mountains . Carol of the bells and God Rest ye merry gentleman were the carols chosen by 6th class and we loved the chime bars ,bells and vocal arrangements in both carols. One of the highlights was the wonderful performance of Oh Holy Night by all our 6th class students kindly accompanied by Mr O’Sullivan.

We were also lucky to have a very special treat when Alanna played her harp so beautifully accompanied by Moninne for our large audience.

Mrs Connell thanked all the talented musicians, children and staff who had worked so hard to prepare for the Carol service . She also thanked everyone in the hall for their support and encouragement and presence at the show, the children loved to perform for their families. She finished by wishing everyone a very happy and peaceful Christmas on behalf of everyone in Rathcormac NS.
