Our girls had an early start on Tuesday morning as they headed off, soon after 8.00am, to Castlebar to take part in the Connacht Finals of the FAIS 5-a-side competition. They played four matches, pitting their skills against each of the county winners. They began with a very tight contest against the Mayo champions, Westport, and were unlucky to lose by a single goal. Westport would go on to claim the title of Connacht Champions. A second narrow defeat to Galway followed.
The girls put on two fantastic performances in their final two matches, outclassing both the Leitrim and Roscommon champions 4-1 and 5-1 respectively to finish on a high, in third place overall.
It was a great experience, and a great day, and any disappointment was quickly forgotten with a lunch stop in Supermacs on the way back. Well done girls, and thank you to Mr. Kelly for his work in preparing you for the event.
