Easter Assembly

Mrs Connell welcomed all the children and family members to the Easter Assembly on a beautiful sunny morning. She spoke about the busy term the children had just completed and complemented them on their engagement with the large variety of initiatives such as Spanish, swimming,Wellbeing Wednesday and all the sporting activities. 

Mrs Connell congratulated all the children on their recent achievements in the community games and sporting events.   A huge number of children (too many to name here as Mrs Connell’s list took her a while to read out!!! )received a long round of applause in recognition of their results in Art, Model making, Gymnastics, Quiz, Chess , Draughts,Basketball ,Handball,Cycling on grass, Swimming,Table Tennis and Soccer. 

The 3 prize winners Bella, Ellis and Ethan  were also congratulated on their outstanding achievements at the engineering event in ATU Sligo.
Each class had the opportunity to perform their Easter party piece. Both our Infant Class performed their Easter poems exceptionally well, well done learning these poems so well. We are very proud of you.

The Student Council next presented the 20 handwritings prize winners with their Easter Egg and certificate. Congratulations to all the children on their wonderful handwriting. 

Sixth class took to the stage to perform Mr Blue Sky very appropriate on such a lovely morning. We are lucky to have such beautiful singers in every class in the school. Third class recited an old favourite The Daffodils with great enthusiasm. Well done.

The next presentation was by members of the Green School Committee who presented the 10 prize winners in the art competition with their Easter eggs. The standard in this competition was also exceptionally high,well done to each class in the school for their efforts and dedication to the Green School campaigns.

Fourth and Fifth class both recited their Easter poems with lovely intonation and clear delivery. Maith sibh go leir.

Geraldine Zakaria accepted the presentation on behalf of Sligo General Children’s Ward from Fiona Murphy a member of our parents association. The children enjoyed their pyjamas and lots of delicious treats and pancakes on Pancake Tuesday and they brought in €2 donation as part of the annual Parent Association Fundraiser . The large display of new games and toys was purchased from the €477 raised on the day and will be available to all children if they are in hospital. Thank you to our hardworking parents association for all their continued support for the school.

Peigin Leitir Mor was the song of choice for Ms McLean’s class and everyone tapped along and enjoyed their performance. The final presentation of prizes were to the 24 prize winners in the Funky Hair /Easter Bonnet competition. Jessica and Naoise called the well deserved prize winners to the stage for their Easter eggs . Congratulations to the prize winners and to all the children who took part in the event. The standard of entries is getting higher each year. Well done everyone.

The Easter assembly concluded with a wonderful performance of Here Comes the Sun from our 1st and 2nd class pupils . Let’s hope the sun continues to shine for the Easter Holidays.
