Easter Assembly 31st March 2023.

31st Mar 2023

Wow, we had a wonderful school assembly this morning. The hall was filled with a spectacular array of creatively designed Easter Bonnets. The originality and attention to detail on display on many of the hats was truly amazing.  And what can we can say about all those funky hairstyles !! We have very talented pupils, parents and grandparents !! Thank you for putting all the effort and work into making the day so colourful. Following a quick survey of the children by Mr O 'Sullivan the vast majority voted in favour of holding this event again next Easter! We are looking forward to the new designs already.

Members of the active school committee who organised the event had the difficult job of selecting a winner from each class. They also selected an additional four prize winners to acknowledge their unique creations and all the hard work that went into them.

The money raised today will be used to purchase additional equipment/resources for Active School's Week which will take place in the first week of June. Just over €370 was raised today. Thank you to all children and families for supporting this fundraiser.

The winners of the Biodiversity Spring Poster Campaign received their prize from Ms Mc Gillen at the assembly. Ms Mc Gillen chatted about Biodiversity, asking the children questions on the topic and highlighting the importance of biodiversity for our environment. Thank you to Ms Mc Gillen for organising this competition. The winning posters are displayed on the Green School's Committee noticeboard.  All entries into the Poster Competition are on display around the hall for the next month.

In addition, twenty children received their prizes and certificates from members of the Student Council at the assembly for their excellent handwriting. Mrs Connell congratulated the children on their beautiful handwriting. It was a very difficult competition for the Student Council members to judge. The standard was very high and all winning entries are now on display on the Student Council Noticeboard.

Our Parents Association kindly donated thirty Easter Eggs to the school . There were three lucky winners in each class and two staff members also went home happy! Thank you to our Parent's Association for their ongoing support,it is very much appreciated. Mr O'Sullivan concluded the assembly by wishing all children and staff a very Happy Easter.
