First Assembly of the year
On Wednesday the 25th September the whole school gathered together for the first assembly of the year. Mrs Connell welcomed all the new staff and pupils into the school. Mrs Connell introduced the new Junior Infants class of 2024 and wished them every success and happiness in school.
Mrs Connell mentioned all the sporting events students had taken part in since the school reopened in August , the mini 7 competition and the cross country schools event .Medals were presented to the Junior boys (silver) and Junior girls teams ( bronze)
She wished the children taking part in the SuperValu Athletics competition the best of luck on Thursday. She thanked Mr Kelly,Ms McLean , Mr Brennan and Ms Bambrick for all their working training the teams.
Mr Kelly thanked all the pupils for their work on the Active Flag over the past 2 years. It was a great achievement when the school was awarded the flag in June .Mr Kelly will have the Active Schools Committee back in action very soon.
Mrs Connell went through the school's Code of Behaviour, Anti-Bullying policy and Rathcormac Golden Rules with the whole school.She said that she expected a very high standard of behaviour in the school . She emphasised the importance of everyone feeling safe in school and everyone having respect for other children and their school.
Ms Walsh and Kate were thanked for their work on the Wellbeing tree. The theme for this term is "What makes a good friend."
Mr Brennan spoke about the STEM project and our prize from Abbvie worth €,5000. We look forward to working with them over the course of the year.
The Student Council Elections will take place next week and Mrs Connell thanked previous council members for their work organising art and handwriting competitions, helping at the Christmas Fair , doing Meet and Greet events , highlighting student issues to teachers and for being the student voice within the school.
Moninne was thanked for her wonderful work with the music group over the years. Naoise and Rachel were taking names of children interested in joining the group who will then meet every Friday starting the 4th October.
Mrs Connell thanked the Parents Association for all their support . She mentioned two upcoming Parent Association event the Halloween Costume Sale which will take place on Saturday the 28th September and the Marathon Man fundraiser scheduled for the 4th of October.
Thursday the 26th of September is SNA appreciation Day. Presentations were made to Moninne,Kate,Majella and Michelle in recognition of all the fantastic work they do supporting the children in the school. They received a huge Bualadh Bós from all present.
The assembly concluded with Ms Bambrick's Class doing a fantastic job reciting a poem called September. Well done on a great job. .
