It has been a very active March at Rathcormac N.S. Over the last four weeks pupils have taken part in the Active School initiative Run Around Ireland. Together we have skipped, jogged, jumped, hopped and run to a combined tally of over 280km.
The challenging weather during March didn’t dampen the spirits of pupils and we all loved stretching our legs and taking a short break from our textbooks each day. Well done to all class teachers and staff for facilitating the initiative and for joining in.
Getting involved in Run Around Ireland has inspired 5th and 6th class pupils to challenge themselves further, during the four weeks they have trained at lunchtime and are looking forward to taking part in the upcoming North Sligo Athletics 5k.
Thank you to the Active School Committee for organising, coordinating and counting kilometres throughout the initiative. We now look forward to the upcoming Table Tennis Takeover, Active Schools Week, Sports Day, Cumann na mBunscol matches and our in house 5 a side tournament.
