Rathcormac NS- STEM award winners.
Huge congratulations go to a superb group of hardworking and creative pupils in our school who have just received the fantastic news that they are the regional and top prize winners of a STEM competition.
Their project-'Renewable energy-how it can positively impact our world', really impressed the judges who awarded the students from 5th and 6th classes the top prize.
The project involved the pupils designing and making various machines and builds under the theme of renewable energy.
It involved a lot of hard work, real creativity, testing their designs and their efforts reveal a genuine flair for engineering, science and design.
The school receives STEM equipment and a school visit from the outreach team at AbbVie who have sponsored the competition. In the next school year, the school will also have a visit and workshop/presentations from Phil Smyth from Simply Science who will be familiar to all from his Science work on RTE Home School Hub and on tv shows.
A huge thank you to Mr Brennan for giving so freely of his time and for entering this fantastic competition. He has inspired and encouraged the children to get involved in STEM projects all year. The children also took part in Science Week and Engineering Week under Mr Brennan's guidance at ATU Sligo. We look forward to working in partnership with AbbVie into the future.
We are extremely proud of these very talented students and budding engineers. Congratulations on this wonderful prize.
